<p style="margin-bottom: 12pt;">Kirkland & Ellis is seeking a coordinator to support the marketing and business development efforts of the San Francisco and Palo Alto (Bay Area) offices. The Coordinator will report to the Bay Area Business Development (BD) Manager in San Francisco, and will work closely with the West Coast BD Director and five staff members in California. The Coordinator will also communicate and collaborate daily with nearly 100 diverse problem-solvers and advisers dedicated to the broader business development, marketing and communications efforts of the Firm. Our international business development team provides seamless service to our attorneys with a focus on quality, innovation and responsiveness. We are looking for a self-starter with good judgement and a background in professional services marketing and business development. </p> <p style="margin-bottom: 12pt;">In this role, the Coordinator will help provide attorneys with support across all areas of marketing and business development, including event planning, pitches and proposals, contact relationship management, branding, business/relationship intelligence, and internal communications. Specific responsibilities include assisting with events, new business pitch preparation, marketing collateral development and maintenance, experience database data entry/management, general research and award submissions and directory nominations. The Coordinator will also be responsible for administrative tasks associated with the business development function such as processing check requests and related administrative tasks.</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 12pt;"><strong>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS </strong></p> <ul> <li style="margin-bottom: 12pt;">Assist with event planning and execution for client-facing events, industry conferences and charitable sponsorships, speaking engagements and other event activities related to the promotion of the Bay Area practices. </li> <li style="margin-bottom: 12pt;">Help produce client-facing pitch materials, responses to RFPs and presentations, including proofreading, formatting (must have exceptional PowerPoint skills), editing, printing, binding and delivery.</li> <li style="margin-bottom: 12pt;">Maintain marketing collateral including practice descriptions, brochures, PowerPoint templates, case summaries, accolade summaries and attorney biographies. Also assist with the production of Kirkland publications including the Bay Area newsletter.</li> <li style="margin-bottom: 12pt;">Assist with general online and database research.</li> <li style="margin-bottom: 12pt;">Assist with survey responses and award submissions.</li> <li style="margin-bottom: 12pt;">Monitor data in the Firm’s marketing contact relationship management (CRM) database, including the review and creation of mailing lists used for direct mail campaigns.</li> </ul>
Job Requirements
<p style="margin-bottom: 12pt;">Strong organization and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with high-level attorneys, staff, clients and guests of the Firm are essential. The coordinator will be able to work independently to make intelligent, informed decisions. Kirkland demands quality work from every employee (often in high-pressure and deadline-driven scenarios). The coordinator will be required to multitask and prioritize effectively. A history of taking initiative is essential to success in this position.</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 12pt;">The coordinator must have solid project management skills, business acumen and an ability to understand marketplace trends. The Coordinator will be required to handle ambiguity, influence others and find ways to move initiatives forward to meet critical deadlines and produce results.</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 12pt;">The position requires meticulous writing and proofing skills, and as well as an aptitude for learning new software. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred and an ideal candidate will have a least two years’ experience in the law firm/professional services environment. Evening and weekend work may be required. </p> <p style="margin-bottom: 12pt;"><strong>TECHNOLOGIES & SOFTWARE</strong></p> <ul> <li style="margin-bottom: 12pt;">Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint. PowerPoint and Excel experts are highly desired.</li> <li style="margin-bottom: 12pt;">CRM/Database Software (e.g., InterAction, Salesforce, ContentPilot, etc.) experience is preferred. </li> <li style="margin-bottom: 12pt;">Working knowledge of Chrome River, Adobe Photoshop and other programs is a plus.</li> </ul>
