<p class="MsoNormal">Johnston, Allison & Hord, a mid-size Charlotte business law firm, is seeking a Director of Business Development. The primary focus of this position will be the overall firm strategy for marketing and business development, with a specific focus on cultivating new business, from both existing clients and potential new clients. We are looking for an experienced industry expert to develop and implement a strategic marketing and business development plan, and along with each practice group leader, develop specific strategies for each practice and industry group, as well as individual attorneys. <br /><br /></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Primary Responsibilities include:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Developing a strong understanding of the firm’s practice areas, legal capabilities and current client base</li> <li><span style="text-indent: -0.25in;">Conducting research on potential new clients, competitor activity and market/industry trends, as well as implementing defensive strategies to protect our current client base</span></li> <li>Work with practice group leaders to develop a strategic plan for each practice group to identify target clients and develop leads for lawyer follow up</li> <li>Identify the decision makers with potential clients while attending community and industry-specific events</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Additional Responsibilities include:</strong></p> <ul> <li><span style="text-indent: -0.25in;">Gathering intelligence on existing firm clients/targets and market trends to provide practice group leaders with an understanding of the competitive landscape and to position the firm for increased effectiveness in winning new business</span></li> <li>Proactively identifying additional business development opportunities, coordinating attorney teams to pitch new business, and driving such opportunities from concept to execution</li> <li>Developing and implementing a program to monitor execution and results of personal and group marketing plans</li> <li>Working with practice group leaders to create content strategy to reach and engage their target audience(s)</li> <li>Monitoring follow-up with clients and potential clients</li> <li>Drafting pitches and overseeing the proposal/ RFP process</li> <li>Overseeing marketing information systems and databases to ensure that they are current</li> <li>Conducting educational business development sessions for associates and income partners</li> <li>Creating and maintaining strong mailing lists for the local North Carolina market</li> <li>Recording and managing experience in appropriate databases for use in future business development effort</li> </ul> <p class="MsoNormal"> </p>
Job Requirements
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li><span style="text-indent: -0.25in;">Bachelor’s degree - Advanced degree desirable</span></li> <li><span style="text-indent: -0.25in;">7-10 years of progressively responsible experience and a proven track record of success in business development.</span><span style="text-indent: -0.25in;"> </span><span style="text-indent: -0.25in;">Law firm experience preferred</span></li> <li>Must be flexible, responsive and be able to manage competing demands</li> <li>Strong communication and writing skills</li> <li>Strong multiple project management and decision-making skills</li> <li>Understanding of database technology. Ability to maintain and update firm’s CRM software</li> <li>Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint, and website management platforms<br /><br /><br /><em style="text-indent: -0.25in;"><span style="font-size: 10.0pt;">We are not accepting resumes from recruiting or staffing agencies.
